2019 June: Bolivia Altiplano
After visiting the Salar de Uyuni we head south through a 4000 m high Altiplano landscape with its many strange rock formations, volcanoes and lagoons. For me it was my personal highlight!
Passing through this region during the three days so sparsely populated, only one car approached us. The important thing was to bring enough gasoline. There were only two accommodations that of course were visited by me. The temperatures drop to freezing point at night and during the day they reach 20-23 degrees with a wonderful sun. We drove to Laguna Canapa, Laguna Hedidonda, Laguna Colorada, Laguna Verde and through the Dali Valley and passed the volcanoes (Licancabur) and geysers until we finally reached the border with Chile. From the Laguna Verde it is only a few kilometers to the border and the northern part of the Atacama Desert.
A jump to Chile
We decided to make a three-day trip to Chile and visit the northern part of the Atacama Desert. Starting from San Pedro de Atacama we made day trips to the Salar de Atacama, the Miscanti and Miniques volcanoes and lagoons, the Geysier de Tato, the Valle de la Luna and other places of scenic and cultural interest.
