2019 July: Peru - Cusco

Our next destination was Cusco, the historical city of the Inca culture. Cusco is located about 700 km east of Nazca. The day in the car was very long and tiring. The road is well developed, but most of it passes through plateaus and at an altitude of 4300 m with innumerable bends through the mountains. During the day many trucks were on the road and this made it almost impossible to pass them.

Cusco is located in the Peruvian Andes at an altitude of 3400 meters and it was once the capital of the Inca Empire. Today, Cusco is known for its archaeological monuments and Spanish colonial architecture. Starting from the Plaza de Armas we could visit several monuments, cathedrals and relevant markets in one day. If there had not been that many tourists, Cusco would definitely be a very nice place.
